Persona 25th Anniversary Celebration - What Are The 7 New Projects?

By Luca Newton

Atlus recently revealed, for Persona's 25th anniversary, that they would have 7 projects over the next 12 months beginning in September..

The Persona series is 25 years old this year, and publisher, Atlus has decided to celebrate the occasion in the way the series deserves. I've only played Persona 5 Royal, but I absolutely adored it (but that's a subject for a future post), but I'm invested within this series, and am deeply interested to see what they have coming. Today, I'll go over possibilities for the 7 projects they're announcing over the next year..

Persona 3 Remake

Firstly, I think they'll kick off the announcements in September with a remake of Persona 3. I won't pretend to know anything about Persona 3. I've never played it, and I've been very intentionally blindsiding it since beating P5R in order to not spoil myself if I ever decide to play it. Fans of the Persona series have been clamouring for a remake of Persona 3, however. In order to have that game accessible to more people, and also to update the game and fix problems with the gameplay. In that regard a full remake of Persona 3 would be incredible for me, and would be the most ideal way for me to experience that game.

I think it'll be first because it feels so big, yet not the biggest thing they could possibly show, making it a perfect opener. So in September, I bet you a Persona 3 remake will be revealed. Oh, also there's a possibility it's more of a remaster that has big improvements like Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition.

Persona 4 Golden Console Ports

Now, these other predictions aren't really in order because they could be at any point. But I do think Persona 4 Golden will get console ports as one of the 7 projects promised. I am absolutely certain of this, because if you didn't know they ported P4G to Steam, and it sold extremely well. I believe it's the second best selling mainline Persona game because of that. In that regard, I think that it would be smart for Atlus to add a few platforms to their P4G port. PS4 and PS5 are the most obvious, but I'd love to see it ported to the Nintendo Switch, given it was a PS Vita game, and lends itself to portability. Regardless of which platforms, I am certain it will be ported to them.

Persona 5 Arena

And to cap off the Persona 5 era, I do genuinely think we will be getting one more Persona 5 spin-off, in order to wrap up loose ends from P5R, and connect the casts from P5, P5S and P5R, ala Kasumi, Zenkichi and Sophia with the rest of the main cast. The most logical choice is a fighting game in the same vein as the 2 Arena games for Persona 4. It's been a long time coming, and I can totally see it being revealed soon. The roster could include all of the P5 cast, while also having P3 and P4 casts in there too.

Other Projects..

I am putting this as a grouped section, because I don't have enough to say about these on their own. The next 3 announcements could be quite a few things. Firstly, they could be not even game related, and more merchandise. Maybe a Persona anniversary concert, maybe a new anime for Royal specifically. Stuff like that.

Alternatively, we could see a lot more ports. The first 2 Persona games ported to current day consoles. Dare I say, Persona 5 ported to the Switch and even the Xbox. Maybe an PS5 enhanced update for P5R that looks a lot nicer and uses the features of the DualSense to its advantage. Most likely, that Persona mobile game could be revealed fully.

If I had to guess the 3:

Persona mobile game

Persona 5 Royal anime

Persona 25th Anniversary concert

Persona 6

For the last reveal, which has already been slated for Autumn 2022, I absolutely think we will see Persona 6 for the first time. It could be in any capacity, but I am confident that Atlus have been working hard of Persona 6 for a while now, and they're going to show it in 2022 to finish the anniversary celebrations.

If I had to guess what they'd show, I think it would be pretty brief. They'd show the logo, colour and maybe concept art of the protagonist. Dependant on how far along it is, we could even see very little gameplay and a 2023 release window? Whatever happens, I do believe we will actually see Persona 6 AT LEAST teased as the last announcement of the anniversary 7 projects.

Out of the 7 projects these are my predictions:

1: Persona 3 Remake

2: Persona Mobile Game

3: Persona 5 Arena

4: P4G Console Ports

5: P5R anime

6: Persona 25th Anniversary Concert

7. Persona 6 Teaser

That is all of my predictions, basic as they may be, I think they're pretty accurate. Do you agree? What do you think they'll show?

Thanks for reading.
